Complete Hotel Review: Shore Amora Canggu
Bali travel is finally back and I could not be more thrilled! We stayed at Shore Amora Canggu and it is the best Bali resort for couples. I just returned from a 6 day vacation, and I am already planning my next trip back. By the way, 6 days is NOT enough time to spend in Bali, but I am so happy I got a little taste of my favorite place after not visiting since 2018. On past trips to Bali I always stayed in budget accommodation and hostels, but this trip was different because I got to experience the luxurious side of Bali travel. Don’t get me wrong, Bali has amazing hostels, but the luxury resorts are AMAZING. In this hotel review I will highlight the special resort features, our personal experiences and what to expect when visiting Shore Amora Canggu
The Brief Review
Shore Amore Canggu amazed me from the moment we arrived. Literally, they have the best welcome drink! The resort is stunning with a large infinity pool overlooking the rice fields within the property. It is the perfect, tranquil setting to enjoy a relaxing holiday in Bali. I really didn’t want to leave the resort, but it is located 3 minutes from the beach and close to the central parts of Canggu. The onsite food at Boheme Restaurant was incredible and the complimentary breakfast options were superb.
The staff really make Shore Amora Canggu special and they are so kind and attentive. They will go out of their way to make sure you are having a lovely stay. Shore Amora Canggu is special because it offers private villas as well as traditional hotel suites. I definitely think this is one of the best Bali resorts for couples and travelers who want to have a peaceful and relaxing stay.
Shore Amora Canggu Overview
Shore Amora Canggu is a distinct lifestyle resort located in Canggu, Bali. The resort combines beautiful architecture in the tranquil settings of the rice fields and black sand beaches in Canggu. It is the perfect resort for couples, solo travelers, and digital nomads. The resort is eco-friendly and puts a lot of emphasis on the little details from the moment you arrive. The friendly staff, beautiful location, stylish suites and villas, and incredible food make Shore Amora stand out amongst the other resorts in Canggu.
Why I chose to stay at Shore Amora Canggu
This trip to Bali was unique for me because I was traveling with my partner and his parents. My partner’s parents have never stayed in Canggu so I really wanted to pick an amazing place and make sure they enjoyed the stay. I wanted to find the best Bali resort for couples of multiple generations. I selected Shore Amora Canggu because of the outstanding reviews, proximity to the beach and very reasonable price! One of the other reasons I selected this boutique hotel was because they offer private villas and traditional hotel rooms.
Location
Shore Amora is just steps from Pererenan Beach in Canggu Bali and a 5 minute scooter ride from Echo Beach and the central shops of Canggu. It is located in a quieter area of Canggu and welcomes beautiful views of the rice fields from each room and the infinity pool. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance, and the walk along the beach towards the center of Canggu is the perfect way to start the day.
The Rooms ~ Why Shore Amora is the best Bali resort for Couples
Shore Amora Canggu is a 4 star resort at a really reasonable price. They offer two types of accommodation – The one bedroom suite or the one bedroom nomad villa with plunge pool. The prices start at $87 USD for the suites and $174 USD for the nomad villa. The resort puts a high emphasis on sustainability and does not use plastics in their rooms. Water is refilled each day in the glass bottles and shampoo and toiletries are also in cute refillable ceramic dispensers. I really appreciated this after experiences all the plastic and individually wrapped toiletries at other hotels in Bali. The private nomad pool villas make Shore Amora Canggu the best Bali resort for couples looking for a relaxing, private space to enjoy each others company.
One-bedroom Nomad Pool Villa
I 100% recommend the nomad villa with a private plunge pool. The villas are so spacious and include a private outdoor bathroom with a massive bathtub and rain shower. Each villa has a comfy double bed, lounge chair and couch, giving you much more space than a traditional hotel room. The centerpiece of the room is the private plunge pool overlooking the rice field. It is the perfect place to stay cool on a hot day and enjoy reading a booking in the cushioned swing. The privacy of each villa makes it perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Urban Suites
The suites at Shore Amora Canggu are also really lovely and provide views out over the rice fields and beyond. The key highlights are the private balconies and bathtubs in each room. The first floor of suites in one story above the pool and restaurant area.
Arrival and Check-in
If you are arriving from Ngurah Rai International Airport it is about a 45 minute drive to the resort. Shore Amora Canggu can arrange airport transfer or you can hire transport from the airport. If you are transferring from other parts of Bali, I recommend Go-jek (basically Indonesian Uber). The resort has scooter parking and can even rent you a scooter when you arrive. The check in process was really simple. We arrived a few hours before the check in time (normally 2 pm) and were able to store our bags at reception while we ventured out to the beach. You can also relax at the main pool while you wait for your room to be ready. Once we returned from our beach walk and surf check we enjoyed the welcome drink. The fresh juice was delicious and incorporated peach and cinnamon notes. The presentation was also really lovely. We were able to check into our rooms a bit early and they had already delivered our bags.
The Property and Amenities
Shore Amora Canggu combines beautiful architecture and design with the stunning natural surroundings. The boutique lifestyle resort places a lot of emphasis on the details of the property and they deliver a relaxing atmosphere to leave you rested and rejuvenated. The main building is colorful and architecturally unique. Here you can find the reception, Boheme Restaurant, remote work spaces, and the main infinity pool. The urban suites are also located on the second and third floors. The space is really open and offers plenty of space to relax for the day and gaze out over the rice fields and the rest of the property. The nomad villas stretch out from the main area and are positioned to provide privacy to each one.
Other services at Shore Amora Canggu include the Jani Spa which offers an assortment of treatments. The resort even offers an arrival special. Shore Gathering Space provides a private place to conduct business meetings or host workshops and community events and the Nomad Space is a quiet room just off the pool area that is perfect for digital nomads looking for a peaceful place to work.
Restaurants and Bar
The onsite restaurant and bar, Boheme, serves delicious dishes and creative cocktails to enjoy at the pool or in the restaurant. The resort includes breakfast and you can either have it delivered or eat near the pool area. I highly recommend having the floating breakfast at least once. The food was divine and the breakfast menu offered a wide range of options. I had the Eggs Florentine and the Nasi Goreng – both were incredible! You also get the choice of coffee or tea and a wide range of fresh juices (watermelon was my favorite!).
The restaurant caters to the pool area so it is easy to order lunch and drinks by the pool without getting off the daybed. We tried the cheesy onion rings, cheesy truffle fries, cauliflower bites and crispy chicken bites. Everything was so delicious. I really loved the fluffy melted cheese that they used. The cocktails are also really nice at Boheme. My favorite cocktail was the Espresso Martini, but I also really liked the Margarita and the South Side. You can view the menu here.
On our second day, we reserved two of the day beds for the afternoon. Jack’s mum surprised us with a special surprise. She asked the staff to create a special drink for Jack and I – she called it the Love Bucket. This goes to show how lovely the staff are. They created an amazing white Sangria inside of a fresh coconut. Once again the presentation was exquisite.
Activities
Shore Amora Canggu offers a few unique activities for their guests. One that I really recommend is the floating breakfast, especially if you are staying in a private villa. You can select from the normal breakfast options and they deliver the presentation to your villa pool for a colorful way to start the day. In addition to the floating breakfast they also offer special flower decorations for the bathtub and pools. Another offering at the resort is a Rice Field Picnic for 2 people where they set up a lovely little lunch spot.
There are a million different activities in Canggu. If you are a surf enthusiast, Canggu is the perfect place for beginners and advanced surfers to catch some awesome waves. Shore Amora Canggu can arrange for lessons and rentals or you can visit one of the beach shacks found along the water. Canggu is also a Mecca for holistic activities like yoga, meditation, boxing etc.
The restaurants and bars are also one of the highlights about Canggu. There are so many options and so many unique restaurants, cafes and beach clubs.
Here are some of my favorite Restaurants in Canggu:
La Brisa – beautiful ocean front restaurant and bar featured in a rustic “boat-like” atmosphere. This is a really popular place all day long and offers two pools, music and a lot of different lounges and tables to sit at
Smoke – we ate here for Jack’s dad’s birthday and the food and service were excellent! They have a wide variety of BBQ meats (and some veggie options) to choose from and pair with various sides like mac n cheese and roasted asparagus. It is an outdoor venue that features a bonfire, picnic bench seating, twinkle lights and of course the smokers and BBQs.
Pali – This is a lovely restaurant overlooking the rice fields. We ate here at night so we couldnt see much of the view but the atmosphere was really relaxing. This is a great place to eat if you are looking for traditional balinese food. The staff is really patient in explaining what everything is on the menu and I definitely recommend the Nasi Campur.
Crate – this is the go-to brunch spot in Canggu. It’s stylish, delicious and the food is presented beautifully
The Lawn – is a a really hip beachfront restaurant and bar. By day it is a great place to grab lunch and have a swim in the infinity pool. At night they host DJs and it’s a popular spot to dance and drink.
The Special Touch ~ Best Bali Resort for Couples
There are many luxurious resorts in Bali, but what makes Shore Amora Canggu stand out from all the rest? I think the best aspect of Shore Amora Canggu is that you can experience the benefits of a private villa, but also maintain the luxury of a hotel and the communal amenities. This aspect makes it the best Bali resort for couples. The private villa plunge pool is the perfect place to relax, read a book and cool off with your lover. It’s also great for a midnight plunge :). The giant day beds at the main pool allow you to be catered on all day and enjoy the views over the rice fields. The staff really went above and beyond, and the onsite restaurant & bar served amazing dishes and cocktails. They designed a special “love bucket” cocktail for us and they put so much detail into the aesthetics of their floating breakfast. You really can get the best of both worlds at Shore Amora Canggu and it is one of the best Bali resort for couples.
Conclusion
Selecting the best resort in Bali is tough when there are so many options to choose from. I can confidently say that Shore Amora Canggu is the best Bali resort for couples in Canggu. It caters to a younger crowd, but even our parents loved the stay. They offer all the luxuries of a hotel, but give you the privacy and space of a private villa. In addition, Shore Amora Canggu is really affordable and provides great value for the price point. I look forward to staying again on my next trip to Bali.
